freestyle changelog

Learnt one big thing from freestyle today. If you're working so hard and still you're not moving, the only conclusion that can be is that you're working too hard. Time to slow down and feel the water around you, then your hands will know what to do with the energy and the water...

  1. hand not doing cycle needed to stretch all the way out to allow head to rest and align with body. this allows the head to effectively turn for breaths without having to bend the neck.

  2. hand doing cycle needs to push the water all the way to the end when the arm is outstretched and aligns with the body's axis

  3. hand needs no hang lose when above the water and returning to the front

  4. legs need to do a sideway kick when on the side

  5. returning hand should go as far as possible to the front before entering the water

  6. kick amplitude too small.

  7. right hand cannot feel the water and use its strength effectively because too much strength was used. need to feel the water first, then put the energy in.

freestyle changelog

  1. over-kicking issue that consumed all the energy fixed. two kicks per handstroke now.

  2. arms need to "cut" through the water. this fix gave the correct body roll.

  3. leg kicking motion changed. instead of kicking with lower part of legs or keeping knees locked and kicking with full legs, legs assume a curve to kick in the water like ribbons moving in the wind.

  4. breathing changed. instead of taking long deep breaths, big mouthfuls of air are simply gulped in and breathed out.

  5. body axis maintained by stomach muscles for smoother breathing.
